Alliance College-Ready Public Schools

Alliance Dr. Olga Mohan High School is a free public charter school authorized by the Los Angeles Unified School District.

 

Alliance Dr. Olga Mohan High School (formerly Alliance College-Ready Academy High School #4) achieved a 2011 Academic Performance Index (API) score of 894, ranking it the 3rd top-performing public high school in LAUSD. Mohan High School was recognized as a 2010 Gold Medal EPIC Gains school for student achievement and a 2009 California Distinguished School, an award that recognizes the state’s most exemplary, inspiring and well-rounded community public schools. In 2011, the California Charter School Association honored the school with the "Charter School of the Year" annual Hart Vision Award.

 

Alliance Dr. Olga Mohan High School is located just south of downtown Los Angeles. The surrounding community is home to mainly non-charter public high schools, such as Belmont and Jefferson, that are primarily low-performing and/or overcrowded.

 

95% Hispanic and 4% African American, 19% English Language Learner (ELL) students, and 98% free or reduced meal program participants. Average daily attendance is 96%.

 

Janette Rodriguez is a successful former middle-school teacher who specialized in diversified instruction. She has been a leader at Alliance Dr. Olga Mohan High School since it opened, first serving as the school’s Assistant Principal for two years before becoming Principal. Ms. Rodriguez has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, San Diego and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Cal State Polytechnic University in Pomona, CA.
